So my March 17 SOL post seemed to resonate with many. This is part 2 (the day after). A proud Papa post …
And so the whistle blew.
Three times in short succession.
Victory at last! At long last.
First time in 31 years.
Sweaty sunburned faces go euphoric in a frenzied chanting swarm.
The moment of release.
All the blood, sweat, and tears culminating in this singular point in time.
The cup but a symbol of the achievement whose value in time will fade – along with your bruises – but the memories will last a lifetime.
Enjoy tonight. Celebrate. Be proud.
Soon enough you will be back on the pitch listening for that whistle.
And the start on a new game.
