Sweet dreams take me away.
Take me away to another day.
There is more to do but I cannot stay.
I cannot stay if my eyes won’t play.
My batteries are low and I need to plug in.
I need to plug in for the spark to make it begin.
Again. Tomorrow. Sweet dreams.

Really powerful…”I cannot stay if my eyes won’t play”….I love this line. I feel like this at the beginning of most weeks and you were able to put that into words so eloquently.

You have captured how all of us feel at some point. Hope tomorrow you are plugged in and ready to go!

“My batteries are low and I need to plug in”. This is a great metaphor. I really related to this

Love the rhyme and verse! Don’t know if this was your intention, but it made me think how valuable sleep is and how little I’ve gotten over the past 8 years. Thanks for sharing this!

“There is more to do but I cannot stay.” I love the truth of this line on multiple levels as well as its lyrical quality. Large-scale, there’s always so much to do; we will never be “done” with it all as long as we live. Small-scale, yes, too true, we have to make a stopping point and get some rest. A sweet, peaceful reminder in verse.

I like your bookending move with “sweet dreams.” Gave it a comforting feeling in spite of work undone and low batteries.

Very playful repetition and exactly how we all feel at the end of the day.
